Baylor Medical School
The Baylor Medical School is a private school in Houston,
TX. It's located within the Texas Medical Center, which is
large complex spanning over 1,000-acres. History tells us that
the Baylor Medical School has been a consistent entry in the
top medical schools in Texas as well as the United States. The
BMS was founded back in 1900 in Dallas under the name
"University of Dallas Medical Department." It moved to the
Texas Medical Center in Houston in 43 years later.
It's a well known fact that the medical school you choose,
is a critical step towards becoming a physician. When you are
considering which medical school to choose, there are several
important factors to take into account: learning opportunities
and environments, quality of the faculty, and the students who
will study with you.
When it comes to learning opportunities and environments,
Baylor Medical School comes second to none, as all students
practice in the Texas Medical Center, a remarkable collection
of more than 40 institutions that provide a wealth of resources
and opportunities.
The fact that Baylor Medical School is affiliated with a
large number of the hospitals that make up the Texas Medical
Center is a huge advantage to all students studying there,
because the TMC is indeed the largest medical center in the
world, so all students get the chance to start working with
patients early in their training and they have the opportunity
to tailor their educational experience to their particular
interests.
You will experience a variety of health care settings,
including private and public hospitals, a world-renowned
pediatric hospital, and one of the country's largest VA
hospitals.
What about the people at Baylor? Well, your time at a
medical school will always be a unique experience and the
people you meet there will have a serious impact on your life
and will probably become your friends for life. That's why the
people factor is very important.
But as Stephen B. Greenberg, M.D., Senior Vice President and
Dean, Medical Education at Baylor points out - "Baylor attracts
very bright students that bring with them a variety of
educational experiences and diverse perspectives. Our students
not only serve to challenge each other intellectually, but also
form a vital support system that creates a family
atmosphere."
